DESCRIPTION:Building Inclusive Sporting Pathways Towards Brisbane 2032\nJoin Sport Inclusion Australia and Inclusion Solutions at SportWest or online for an engaging workshop designed for sport\, recreation and community professionals seeking to better understand pathways and opportunities for people with intellectual disability in sport. This workshop will explore how organisations can create more inclusive environments\, support athlete development\, and strengthen pathways from community participation through to elite competition. \nThis Event Is For: \n\nHealth and Disability Professionals\nSport and Community Development Officers\nSport Inclusion Coordinators\nLocal Government Officers\nState Sporting Associations\n\n  \nWhat You’ll Learn:\n\nUnderstanding intellectual disability and sport participation\nSport Inclusion Australia’s role in creating pathways\nParticipation\, talent identification and athlete development\nEligibility process and importance to classification\nRole of health professionals and networks\nOpportunities leading towards Brisbane 2032\nIncluded in Sport participation program\n\n  \nA highlight of the workshop will be a panel of athletes sharing their lived experiences\, providing valuable insight into: \n\nTheir sporting journeys\nChallenges and barriers encountered\nSupports that contributed to success\nOpportunities for future improvement\nAspirations for Brisbane 2032 and beyond\n\n  \nGuest Speaker\nRobyn Smith OAM \nSport Inclusion Australia International Engagement Advisor\, President of Virtus\, Board Member of the International Paralympic Committee and Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games\, and Australian Sporting Association of People with Disability (ASAPD) \nRobyn has more than 35 years of experience working alongside governments\, sporting organisations and disability organisations to advance inclusive sport across Australia and internationally. \n  \nPresenting Organisations\nSport Inclusion Australia\nSport Inclusion Australia is a National Sporting Organisation established in 1986. Its founding principle of Leave No One Behind\, has underpinned its successes over four decades\, to promote sporting opportunities for people with an impairment with a focus on intellectual impairment (including intellectual disability and/or autism) in mainstream settings with sport owning and delivering sport for all Australians at the appropriate ability level with a ‘person first’ approach’. \n  \nInclusion Solutions\nInclusion Solutions is an established Western Australia organisation dedicated to unlocking the potential within every individual and community\, by creating opportunities for people\, with a focus on people with a disability to be socially included. Use the Transperth JourneyPlanner to identify the best route from their location to 203 Underwood Avenue\, Floreat. \nArrival\nPlease allow a few extra minutes to find parking and make your way to the workshop room. Upon arrival\, enter SportHQ and follow signage to the workshop location on your left once entering glass doors. \nEntry instructions\nSportWest is located on the ground floor\, with step-free access from the entrance to the workshop room. There are no stairs or elevators required to access the workshop space. Accessible toilets are also located on the ground floor\, close to the workshop area. \n  \n\n \n
