Creating Socially Inclusive Play Spaces

Play spaces are more than just equipment—they’re opportunities for connection, belonging, and community. This training dives deep into how local governments can design inclusive and welcoming play environments that better reflect the needs of the community. 

A snapshot of what we will cover:

  • Examine social inclusion and explore access and inclusion barriers
  • Explore the role and benefits of play on development and health
  • Analyse the importance of inclusive design and discover the benefits of inclusive play spaces
  • Unpack the key factors in planning and designing inclusive play spaces
  • Evaluate and improve an existing play space

This workshop is perfect for urban planners, landscape architects, parks and recreation teams, community development officers, and anyone involved in shaping public play spaces.
