For more than 30 years, we’ve been working with organisations, groups and individuals to foster socially inclusive communities. We believe in working together, to create vibrant, sustainable and welcoming places, where all people belong.
Our 5 Step Community Development Framework sets the foundation for all our work, no matter who we are working with, or how we are working with them.
Our approach is grounded in an asset-based community development method, focusing on strengths and opportunities, looking for ways to build on what’s strong, not what’s wrong.
5 Steps to Success
Listen
Successful partnerships are about strong relationships.
We start with a conversation, gather data, and look for shared values to ensure a strong understanding of our shared context.
Connect
There is an old proverb, “If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.” We believe in going far.
We look for opportunities to connect with other stakeholders, learn from one another, and explore opportunities to partner, add value or support.
Design
With a strong understanding of our landscape, we work on developing a co-designed project plan focussing on practical and impactful solutions that foster community connection and inclusion at every step of the way.
Deliver
Throughout implementation, our focus is on capacity building, collective action and advocacy.
We bring others along for the journey, so that community outcomes are sustainable and positive social change will continue long after the project’s conclusion.
Reflect
We understand the importance of remaining agile and flexible.
Our live reflection and evaluation process gives us the humility to recognise and change tack when things aren’t going to plan, and the ability to respond to new opportunities as they arise.
