Mount Helena Junior Football Club

The Mount Helena Junior Football Club are a small community sporting club located in the Shire of Mundaring approximately 40kms from the Perth CBD. Over the past 24 months through the engagement of Inclusion Solutions and their mentoring process, a partnership with the Shire of Mundaring and the West Australian Football Commission, their club has gone from strength to strength to become one of the premier junior clubs in their community.

They launched an inclusive football program called Starkick for children with disability which has had a positive impact on their club. Their membership has doubled including not only participation but also a strong volunteer base. While their engagement and relationship with their community are strong, the club is gaining recognition for their work outside of Mundaring.

The club recently received the Access Mundaring Award from the Shire of Mundaring on the back of their inclusive football program and the WA Football ‘Participation Certificate of Excellence’. President Narelle Thredgold was the winner of the WA Football Volunteer of the Year award for the Swan Districts region.

On the back of receiving the Swan Districts WA Football Volunteer of the Year Award, I wanted to thank you and Inclusion Solutions for your support and encouragement throughout the year.

I appreciate the insight you gave us at the beginning of the year, and the guidance you have continued to provide has meant that the club has gone from a club on the verge of collapse, to a club that is stronger than it has been in over 5 years.

Sometimes with a bit of guidance, by looking objectively at what you do, how you connect and represent your community, and by just becoming a little more inclusive in the process, people can achieve extraordinary outcomes. In the process, positively impacting everyone at your club and in your community.

Get involved with the Mount Helena Junior Football Club.
